Welcome to Team Mongol Max!!
Team MONGOL MAX comprising of Mike Hall and Greg Dolinsek are taking on the might of the
Mongol Rally 2008
This summer we will be driving a clapped out 15yr old 1.0 litre VW polo 1/3 of the circumference around the world from oldLondon town to Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia.
Our route will take us through the Ukraine, into Russia, across most of Kazakhstan, back into Russia and finally on to Mongolia.
The fun doesn't stop there though, oh no, in fact once we enter Mongolia through the Altai Mountains, thats where the fun really begins. We'll still be over 1000 miles from Ulaanbaatar and we can kiss goodbye to paved roads and bridges across rivers and say hello to a place where there are no useful maps and the locations of the 'roads' can vary by season by up to 20km laterally.
The route, plan, and our general safety and well being are in our own hands as we leave any chance of rescue at the start line and hope to see our compadres again at the finish line, in time for tea and cakes.
The plans are likely to vary some what along the way as the climate, car swallowing potholes, unpredictale (but 'persuadable') border guards, bandits and breakdowns dictate. Accomodation will range from 'hotels' to (probably) caves or even just the back seats of the car.
So why are we doing this?
Well basically life is too boring and safe and there’s a lot of world out there to see and there’s no better way of 'getting amongst it' than being down on the ground driving through it.
Now, if we are going to do something this irresponsible you can be damn sure that we're going to raise a sack load of cash for some great causes in the process, particularly charities which help the areas we are visiting.
This is where we need your help! We are aiming to raise a HUGE £3000 for the following carefully chosen charities;
Mercy Corps Mongolia - who support rural communities to meet their economic and social needs, helping individuals, families and communities to become more self-sufficient, diversified in their production, and better linked to local, regional and national markets.

ok could had been better,cracked the fuel filler neck in belgium! Are on the move again but have to run on 1/4 tank and filling up every station. pulling an all night stint to catch up.going to fun from now on!lol @

After anothe night sleeping in the car at a petrol station we finally collected our v5 from JCB hungaria. Now back on the road with full fuel tank and just open road all the way to Kyyiv.@

Q Just got pulled over for speeding in ukrain! But it just so happened a 10 dollar bill made him re asses the speed and the court case was dropped.
