Thinks!

Bash plate is on but hangs rather low at the back to clear the gear selector rods. I hope there is enough spring in it to bounce us over any obstacles and it will certainly save the sump/gearbox. Chatted to my brother at the weekend who drove a 110 in Botswana for any tips, as Mum told me he was a bit mad with it when they visited. He said always stop and chat when off road and don't worry about which fork to choose if the track divides, as it is normally to avoid a hole or something and will join up again. He said never drive past anyone and always offer something even if it's a drink of water. We're taking a load of old golf balls and pens. Get a hi-lift jack too and have some plates welded onto the car so it doesn't get ripped apart. When stuck jack it up out of the hole and push the whole lot over to get the wheels on new ground, then get back on tarmac as soon as you can! Not sure what the chances are of that in Mongolia. I saw some caravan leaf spring assisters on ebay for a zephyr mkll which I used on the same car 30 years ago but they are a bit heavy for our little motors. Someone with a busted leaf spring used a tree truck jammed under the car over the dead axle to limp on to garage last year, which I thought was a good tip |
