The End of a Great Adventure

8600 miles, 300 hours driving, 12 hotels, 17 campsites, 19 countries, one leaking fuel tank, several knackered shock absorbers, too much facial hair, and with still only 2 tapes to listen to, we've made it back home. The rally lived up to everything we ever hoped it would - we've seen some amazing countries, driven some terrible roads, thrashed the Polo across rivers and dirt tracks, met loads of friendly locals, and enjoyed the comraderie of the other rally teams. The best city was Istanbul, the best scenery was in Western Mongolia, the worst borders were Kazakhstan, the best roads were in Germany, the most fun roads were in Mongolia, and the friendliest locals were the Iranians. And....Henry and I are still great friends!! If anyone wants to do the rally next year they've just started to take applications, so get your name down! We've put some more photos in the gallery, so if you've managed to get this far with the blog, check out the photos as well.... Cheers |
